In case you missed my new-found pink dolphin passion all over facebook (I might have formed a Fellowship of the Pink Dolphin group and invited 300 of my closest friends…), here’s the article that started it all.
The Supreme Court ruled that patients can sue drug companies when they believe they’ve harmed their products. This doesn’t sound landmark as it is- it clarifies whether the drug companies or the FDA should be held blameworthy for products that hurt patients. It could bring about some very interesting cases in the next few years- this’ll be fun to watch.
Whatever side of the issue you sit on, you’ve gotta admit that the California Supreme Court’s review of Proposition 8, the gay marriage ban, which starts today, is a landmark case that’s going to have some serious effects in the future. (love love law cases)
GMU Professor Dan Kubiske makes some good points on his GMU Journalism blog about the difference between commentary and journalism, and the need to report truth and not distort it in a post on Rush Limbaugh’s recent statement that Obama is giving $900 million to Hamas. In reality, the money is going to Gaza and being diverted specifically away from Hamas.
Help NASA name International Space Station’s Node 3! I’m excited- the more we work on the space station, the more hope it brings to possible affordable space tourism in the future. And I want to go to the moon. Wee.
The staff of the Oregon Daily Emerald, the University of Oregon’s student newspaper, has gone on strike over a disagreement with the university regarding the hiring of a former editor and current professor at the school as an interim “publisher” of the paper. This article also includes links to the announcement of the strike and a statement on the blog of the man who was to be publisher on the whole matter.
